Winter Bride Series-Christmas Bride!
Joy to the world, I love Christmas time and I love my Christmas brides! In a nod to my winter bride series from last winter, I’m tipping my Santa hat to the girls who go all out and deck the halls. Errr, the church halls, venue halls, any halls you’ve got with tinsel, ribbons, poinsettias, bows, greens, reds, ornaments, and of course Christmas lights galore! Christmas spirit is a beautiful thing, pair that to my favorite thing to photograph (weddings obvs!) and you have a beautiful marriage.
One reason weddings at this time of year are so special for me is I did my very first solo wedding a decade ago. Yes, on 12/16/06 I was the lead after being an assistant for years at a wonderful studio-Photosmith located in downtown Cincy. Those photographers taught me so much and I will also be appreciative to the owner who took a chance on a girl who called him out of the phone book (yes, I said phone book) and begged to tag along and carry bags for experience. They let me shoot after awhile, don’t be feeling sorry for me over there. Anyway, this first wedding was a friend of a friend, Samantha and Mike. Sam loves Christmas and made the perfect Christmas bride. She embraced the Christmas season with her flowers, her bridesmaid dresses were also Christmas red, which was fabulous. Sam just looks like Christmas to me, and come on-isn’t she cute as a Christmas cookie?! I had so much fun being the lead and I knew this is where my life was headed. Oh, did I mention I was five months pregnant for this wedding? Sam let me pig out at the reception, it’s all good.
My girl Hannah is my model for this blog. She was my bride last fall who was the inspiration for “theme wedding bride” in another blog entry. She reminds me of Christmas too and I felt she embodied the Christmas spirit, don’t you agree? Thanks for your help my beautiful Hannah!
So you go for it my Christmas brides! Jingle those bells, rock around the Christmas tree, let in snow because baby it’s cold outside. Most of all, I appreciate your dedication and commitment to having a Christmas tree at your wedding (really-I love it!). Keep on keeping on with the Christmas spirit and have yourself a merry little (or 250+ guests) Christmas wedding!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
